Successful place making is when everything comes together and the place just feels right. Place making is not a new concept, but there is now almost an urgency to better understand how it can affect the social, economic and environmental sustainability of many urban and regional centres as they feel the pressures of growing populations.
The Place Leaders Association is for people in the public sector, who call themselves place makers – people serious about improving the quality of place making and place management.
They are the leading urban designers and planners, architects, heritage planners, property developers, academics and others looking for new solutions to lack of space, inadequate infrastructure and other flaws in our communities.
They want to know how to make, and more importantly why, a particular place just feels right for everyone who uses it. They are also seeking greater understanding of the complexities of ‘sense of place’ and how it influences successful place making.
